Material — Mosul Bridge

The first bridge is known as the old bridge or the green bridge, it’s a bridge over the Tigris river which connects the right side with the left side of Mosul city.

Its construction start in 1932 in the king Ghazi bin Faisal Reign and the opening in 1934, and it’s considered the oldest bridge in the city.

The old Mosul bridge got destroyed in the fight to free the city from ISIS in 2016, then got repaired and opened on 14/3/2018.

The ancient bridge has great importance to the residents of Mosul, exceeding its importance as a means of linking the two banks of the Tigris, and its importance highlights the many historical events that took place on it and were associated with its name.

The project “Cultural and Creative Industries” is implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut.
