The great mosque of Sulaymaniyah is considered the oldest mosque in the city, it was built in 1785 by Ibrahim Pasha Baban. It contains 3 small cemeteries and the shrine of Haji Kaka Ahmed and his grandson, King Mahmood. Situated at the heart of the city, hundreds of people visit the mosque for prayer and to visit the shrines. There are various forms represented in this mosque however they are driven from Islamic geometric shapes such as the arcs, sphere, and cube.
