Al-Safafir market or Al-Safarin market named after “al safr” which is another name for the metal of copper, and this market is found in Baghdad, and it is a group of shops spread in the narrow alleys located in the Bab Al-Agha area near Al-Shorja on Al-Rasheed Street, opposite the Marjan Mosque building, and copper products and tools are sold in it.

It is considered one of the ancient markets that dates back to the era of the Abbasid Caliphate, and over hundreds of years this craft was inherited by sons from their fathers in the crafting and methods of copper and transforming it into copper pots and plates characterized by distinctive inscriptions and drawings. It also have a clear noise caused by knocking on copper to reshape it 

This market is famous for making dishes, household utensils, teapots,  picture frames, and copper lanterns, and engraving on them. There are several markets with the same name that specialize in copper roads in several Iraqi cities.

This antique craft is on the verge of extinction due to the import of copper goods from foreign factories.
