The National Theater is located on the Rusafa side of Baghdad, specifically in the Karrada area. It can accommodate 1,000 people and includes the Cinema and Theater Department building as well. The theater presents monthly performances in the serious theater, as well as concerts by the Iraqi Symphony Orchestra. It was designed by architect Rasim Omar Ahmed in 1979.
The form of the building consists of a few repeated elements such as the arcs on the entrance face of the building.
