Color — The Colors of Old Bridge in Mosul

Antique Bridge - Gray

The green color has been associated with the bridge since its built, so it was called the Green Bridge in addition to its well-known names (the old or ancient bridge), but this connection was soon broken after the bombing of the bridge during the military operations that took place in Mosul in 2017, and after its construction it was painted in red, which was linked The period of devastation and destruction in Mosul, to settle later on the gray color, which indicates the era of rebuilding and opening in 2018.

The bridge is known as the Old Bridge, the Old Bridge, or the Green Bridge. It is known in the local Musalawi dialect as the Old Jisg. It is a bridge over the Tigris River that connects the right and left coasts of the city of Mosul in Iraq.

Its construction began in early 1932 during the reign of King Ghazi and was inaugurated in 1934. It is considered one of the oldest bridges of Mosul. The ancient bridge was destroyed during the battles to liberate Mosul with ISIS in 2016, and it was reconstructed and opened on March 14, 2018.

The ancient bridge has great importance to the residents of Mosul, exceeding its importance as a means of linking the two banks of the Tigris, and its importance highlights the many historical events that took place on it and were associated with its name.
