Palm fronds are extracted from the leaves of the compound palm tree and have feathery properties as well as rough texture and are used in the production of many uses.

Palm fronds products: There are many types of products resulting from the use of different parts of the palm, such as furniture, household appliances and hand fan.

Dry palm fronds are used in the manufacture of baskets, seats, decorative tools and boxes, in addition to its use in the manufacture of hand fans, brooms, and straw dishes.

Palm fronds are also used in the manufacture of hats and handicrafts such as animal representation, in addition to mats, children’s beds, baskets for preserving fruits and eggs, especially in the Arabian Peninsula, in view of the increasing growth of palm trees there.

The project “Cultural and Creative Industries” is implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. It improves employment and income opportunities for creative professionals in six partner countries; Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa and operates mainly in the music, fashion, design and animation sectors. In addition to promoting the development of entrepreneurial, digital, creative and technical skills through training programmes, the project aims to strengthen the framework conditions and the ecosystem of the cultural and creative industries.
