Shape — Maryam Al-Athra Church – Sulaimaniyah

Maryam Al-Athra Chruch was the first Church in Sulaimaniyah, it was built in 1862 in Sabunkaran District. The Monastery of the Virgin Mary is located in Sulaymaniyah at an altitude of 851 meters above sea level. The monastery is located in the heart of the old Sulaymaniyah in the old neighborhood of Sabunakran (Sabunkhan), which is the neighborhood of workshops and soap makers.

Here we can see the most used forms in the church which are : the semi circular arc, pointed arc and spire.

The project “Cultural and Creative Industries” is implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut.
